Course Syllabus
This UNESCO course helps educators teach about histories of violence to help towards building cultures of peace, empathy, and global citizenship. Through eight interactive modules, explore key concepts and pedagogical strategies to address violent pasts and their legacies in your classrooms with sensitivity and confidence. Gain practical tools to create learner-centered, gender-responsive and “brave” classrooms where students think critically, engage with multiple perspectives, and connect the past to present challenges.
You’ll learn to work with powerful primary sources, facilitate meaningful discussions, and assess learning in ways that build understanding and compassion. By the end, you’ll join a global network of educators committed to transforming history education into a catalyst for social justice, human rights, and peacebuilding.
